An 86-year-old cancer patient was attacked and robbed after being followed into his retirement home Sunday, police said.
The man was returning home from shopping at about 11:15 p.m. when he came to the door of his residence at 1020 W. Lawrence Ave., police said.
As a receptionist buzzed him in, a woman who had been lingering near the door slipped in after him.
The woman followed him into an elevator and up to his tenth-floor apartment, police said. When the man unlocked the door, the woman knocked him to the floor, ripped open his pants pocket and grabbed a wallet containing $110 in cash.The assailant is described as a black female in her 40s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds. She was wearing a red jacket.
