A 25-year-old culinary student told police she was raped by a cab driver who pulled into an alley, locked the cab's doors and crawled through the partition to attack her.
According to police reports, the woman was leaving a friendâ€™s apartment around Dec. 1 when she hailed a cab at the
corner of Clark Street and Foster Avenue. She gave the driver her home address about 7 miles away.
Instead of driving her home, however, the driver pulled into an alley near North Clark and West Maple. and told the victim she "wasn't going home yet," police reports said.
The woman told police she tried to get out but the cab's doors would not open.
The driver then climbed through the partition, told the woman to take off her clothes and raped her, police reports said. The man then told the victim to get out of the cab.
The woman got out, but managed to grab only her cell phone and sweatshirt, leaving her purse and other clothing behind.
The woman used her phone to call for help. She was found by a friend, crying and crouched beside a garbage bin in the alley wearing only her sweatshirt, police reports say.
