When the victim said he had no money, the man punched him in the face and took $20 from his pocket, according to the police report. The assailant, who fled on foot, is described as a black man in his 30's, about 6 feet tall, 250 pounds and wearing a ski hat.

The victim was treated at Weiss Hospital for a bump on his forehead and later released.

Not all blacks are criminals, nor are all criminals black.

But blacks commit disproportionate

number of violent crimes

• Of 80,094 robbery arrests

reported to the FBI in 2006,

over half — 46,051 — were blacks.

• Of 7,210 murder and

nonnegligent manslaughter

arrests, 4,054 were blacks.
