A 26-year-old man was charged yesterday with robbing and sexually assaulting a woman as she walked to her car near the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Lawrence Baggett, 26, of the 1200 block of West 13^th Street,  robbed a woman of $500 and sexually assaulted her twice last Thursday night, police said. 

Police gave the following account of the incident:

At around 9:30 p.m. a woman affiliated with the university was walking to her car parked in the 1500 block of West Fillmore St. when Baggett approached her. He showed her a handgun and forced her into her vehicle.

Baggett then made the woman drive to an ATM where he forced her to withdraw $500 and then sexually assaulted her. After that, he forced her to drive to the 1300 block of West Lexington, where he assaulted her again.

Baggett then made the woman drive to the 1500 block of Blue Island, where he got out of the car and fled.
