Police announced this weekend that they have identified the
remains of a woman found in a burning garbage bin on the South
Side.
The body of 50-year-old Hazel
Lewis, of the 4700 block of South Evans Avenue, was discovered Nov. 14 by officers responding to
a call about a burning garbage bin, said Officer Marcel Bright of
the Chicago Police Department.
Two days earlier, police found the body of 21-year-old Theresa
Bunn, who was eight-months pregnant, in another burning garbage bin on the South
Side.
According to the medical examiner's office, both women were
strangled before being set on fire.
Police have yet to make a connection between the two cases, said
Officer Bright.
