Police responding to a trash fire early this morning found a
charred female corpse -- the second such grisly discovery this week.
In the most recent incident, officers patrolling the South Side around 1 a.m. today saw a city garbage
can on fire behind Reavis Elementary School located on 834 E.
50th Street, police said.
While dousing the flames with a fire extinguisher, the officers found a badly burned woman's body, police said.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office today said the first victim, found in a trash bin at 6127
S. Prairie Ave. Monday night, had been strangled.
Officials have not identified either victim. The first incident is being investigated as a homicide. The Medical Examiner's Office is performing an autopsy today on the second victim.
