Police catch suspected dealers with pants down
To paraphrase Kenny Rogers, you gotta know when to hold it. Two men learned that lesson courtesy of the Chicago police when they were spotted urinating in public and now face felony drug charges.
Police said the incident resulted in the seizure of nearly 100 pounds of marijuana and $20,000 in cash.
While patrolling the 16th police district Tuesday night, officers observed Erik Medina, 26, of the 5900 block of W. Patterson, and Francisco Bustos, also 26, of the 1500 block of N. Central, relieving themselves.
The two men fled when they saw the police, who gave chase. The pursuit led past a third man observed exiting a garage. He also fled at the sight of the police.
The three men were apprehended and brought back to the garage, where officers noticed the strong scent of marijuana. A search revealed multiple bags of marijuana in the garage and elsewhere on the property, police said.
All told, 41,893 grams of pot, with an estimated street value of $670,000, was recovered, according to the police. Each suspect was arrested and charged with one count of possession of more than 5,000 grams of cannabis.
