Man gunned down in Rogers Park

A shooting in front of 2117 W. Birchwood Saturday morning resulted in the death of a 24-year-old city resident.

Police said Terrence Palmer of 7400 N. Western Ave. was fatally shot in the back about 1 a.m. Saturday.

A local resident reported hearing two people talking some time after midnight. A short time later the resident heard gunshots. The resident, who preferred not to be named, said he didn't look out the window.

'You just don't look out the window. You mind your own business'

Once police arrived he went outside and as he saw the victim being carried away, he realized he knew him from the neighborhood.

'He was a good looking young man with long braids. A real nice kid.'

According to police, residents of 2117 W. Birchwood arrived home at approximately 1:15 am and found Palmer lifeless on their front lawn. They contacted police.

Police said Palmer was pronounced dead on the scene. They said he was a member of the Black P Stone Nation and believe the shooting may be gang related.
